WINNING THE WAR AT HOME

Los Angeles – While American soldiers fight to win the war in Afghanistan, a war is being waged every day in more than half of all American families – the war against drug and alcohol addiction.

Every time another famous young star gets into trouble with drugs and alcohol it hits the headlines, but there are millions of young Americans whose stories never get told.

Robert Hernandez is one of these stories. “By the time I was 17 years old, I was doing a lot of drugs and going downhill fast,” says Hernandez. “I dropped out of school and left my chances of a good education and a successful life behind. I had stopped believing in myself. I had no real hope or desire to succeed in life.”

A national poll shows that chemical addiction is one of the top three domestic problems – along with crime and plunging educational standards. And crime is linked to drug and alcohol abuse 80 to 90 percent of the time.

The crisis is ruining the lives of millions of young Americans who, like Hernandez, find themselves in trouble and don’t know where to turn. Teenage use of the so-called “safe” drug ecstasy is on the rise and a study supported by the National Institute on Drug Abuse has provided the first direct evidence that chronic use of this drug causes brain damage.

Getting addicted happens fast and is extremely difficult to break. Even if a person stops taking the drugs he is not freed from their effects. Author and humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard discovered that residues from drugs and other toxins lodge and remain in the fatty tissues and affect the person for years afterward.

The good news is that the Purification Program developed by Hubbard is helping thousands of addicts beat their habit and improve their lives. Independent studies have shown it to be one of the safest and most effective detoxification programs and it has been praised by the scientific and professional community including members from the Committee of Environmental Health, Ontario College; the National Institute of Health; Rockwell Aerospace, UCLA School of Medicine and the Institute for Optimum Nutrition in London.

Dr. Kathleen Kerr, a member of the Committee of Environmental Health, said, “Published scientific studies of Mr. Hubbard’s techniques have shown it to be successful.” More than 250,000 people have already been salvaged by this method.

Even though its physical benefits are nothing short of miraculous, the crucial point of the program is actually its spiritual results. It is the first step in a full resolution to the spiritual devastation caused by drugs, medicine and alcohol abuse.

“I was one of the lucky ones,” says Hernandez. “I did the Purification Program and my life was literally saved. At the age of 21 I went into business on my own. It is truly a miracle that now, at the age of 31, I own real estate and a million-dollar-a-year business. I have a sense of happiness and well-being and I am really winning in life.”
